Christmas Is Upon Us…

By making our own decorations and limiting our gift purchases we have had a fantastic Christmas this year.  IMG_2886Ruby had decided earlier in the year that she wanted to make her own Christmas tree and with a little inspiration from Aunty Janette and a little elbow grease from mom and dad the tree turned out pretty good! It’s a good thing too because for some reason Christmas trees in Hawaii this year were scarce, and EXPENSIVE!  IMG_2971 IMG_2972 We spent an afternoon making gingerbread with Ruby’s friend Erihana and they had a blast decorating with very unique styles and colors!  Tyson even joined in the fun…IMG_2846 Instead of buying gifts for each other this year we donated the money we would have spent to Ruby’s baby home – The Cradle of Love.  We don’t have exact figures but  the amount raised from Ruby’s Christmas Wish may have reached above $500!  Pretty amazing!

On Christmas Eve Tyson had had enough and was falling asleep at the table during lunch.  It was so cute and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a video.

Merry Christmas everyone!  We hope your Holiday is filled with the true joy that only Christ can bring!

2009 was a Beautiful Year

I found this website that allows you to create your own personal professional movies for FREE (if you keep it under 30 seconds). So here is my first go at it. Had fun, might do more. Not sure. :)

The Honolulu Stake Christmas Concert 2009

This year Ruby was part of the Honolulu Stake Christmas Concert at the Tabernacle in Honolulu. She was the smallest in the choir, ages 6 - 12, and had the most spunk! She practiced for weeks and had a special dress made (thanks to Bibi Judy!), and memorized three songs that were well above her standard Sunday hymn. She did a fantastic job, and be sure to take the time to watch it all the way to the end... it's worth it! Ruby stole the show!

XTERRA World Championship

I was able to run the XTERRA XDuro offroad half-marathon at Kualoa Ranch on December 6th, and I enjoyed EVERY minute of it! I actually finished in 2:41, a personal record for me!

Ruby also ran in her own race... the children's Sprint! She had a great time and finished in the top ten! Here is her reaction to the race in her own words...

We had a great time but I think the race was too much for Tyson. After I crossed the finish line he was pretty wiped out!

We had a lot of fun and hope to do it again next year! Ruby wants to train for a 5k but were not so sure thats a good idea just yet! What a beautiful race and a beautiful day! Lovin' it!
