Flashback: July 2011

These are out of order but here are some July pictures

Ruby turned 8 in July and we made this cute castle cake, which you can't see because it's covered in pink frosting!

While Mommy was home super sick, Daddy took the kids to the Friday night  fireworks at Ala Moana  Beach Park

It's pretty exciting to stay out after dark once in a while- for the kids too!

Gingerbread cookies in July- yummy

It made a lot of sense to keep his head buzzed since he was always covered in sand, or mud

She looks guilty, but it was actually our friends Rachel and Jeremiah that buried him, and  just for the record,  Tyson loved every minute

We took a vacation day this Saturday.  We went to Geoff's off-road 10k  then played the rest of the day.  We rarely get such a real and bright smile from Ruby in pictures.  This is the smile we get when she doesn't see a camera coming

Hukilau Beach

Geoff did great!

We kept each other entertained while Daddy was running

Flashback: June 2011

We're finally trying to get caught up on blogs of the year before it actually ends.  So, here are some of our favorite June pictures.

Love this innocent face

Yes, he did eventually fall in

We didn't have our carrier so Geoff improvised

Eating Girl's Camp S'mores

Outside the Academy of Arts,  I just love  how when they aren't fighting they are best friends

Ruby making chocolate donuts with Dad

I can't remember who started the silly watermelon faces, Ruby I think, but it caught on

Ruby and Tyson love playing connect four with Dad

WE HAVE MOVED!

It's official.  We've moved to Bend, Oregon.  It wasn't in the cards and we didn't plan to come here but it happened and we're here and so far it's been a positive thing for us.  We've grabbed onto life here and are living it to the fullest, enjoying the cold weather, warm fire and steamy cider. It's fall here in Bend and it's beautiful!

There are a few animals living in the yard, like squirrels, chipmunks, jays, quail and the occasional deer or two.  There are 2 friendly squirrels that play on the deck during the day, and a shy chipmunk that I haven't been able to capture on film yet.  This is Phil.  We also have Skitter and Buster, but they're not pictured here.

With the move we upgraded our living situation to a house with a yard, so bicycles were in order!

Ruby and Tyson also went to a pottery studio and painted their own pottery pieces.  Tyson chose the Triceratops. He was very particular on the coloring and made sure to cover every last inch with color.

And Ruby picked an ornament bulb and a peace sign...  She couldn't decide!

There are also these amazing little frogs that are all over the place.  You can't hardly see them until you almost step on them but here is one I caught.

And probably the most exciting news we have is that we adopted a dog from the Humane Society.  Her name is Amy and she is a 6-year-old Australian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever.  She is house trained, gentle, extremely friendly and LOVES to play fetch!

We'll post more soon but wanted to get a few things out to everyone now.  Hope your Fall is as beautiful as ours!!!

Flashback: May 2011

May was a fun month.  We had a visit from Andrea's mom and got to have a lot of fun with her while she was here.  She taught all of us to use the sewing machine and I took on the serious project of sewing my own Aloha shirt!  Ruby sewed her own purse, and Tyson got a blanket and pillow case out of the deal. It was so fun and we all learned a lot!

This is a common site in our home.  Tyson is such a cuddle-bug and will snuggle with you for hours if you let him.
I think this picture says it all about our children.
Tyson in his swim suit, ready to go diving with the goggles.  I don't know if there were plans to go to the beach that day or not but apparently Tyson wasn't taking "No" for an answer...
This is one of my favorite memories as a kid - rolling down a hill in my big Tonka Truck!  Awesome that Tyson loves it as much as I do!
This video cracks me up!  Ruby is nervous most of the way down and then laughs nervously when she finally reaches the bottom!
Here's the Police hat again, and Ruby reading to Tyson.
Tyson learned to stand on his head in May.  He learned this trick from Uncle Jeremiah.  He was so proud!
When Grandma Loli comes to visit it's a PARTY every day!!!
We visited the "Valley of the Temples" and fed the birds.
We ran the "Jamba Banana-Man 5k" race at Ala Moana beach park.  Ruby ran almost the whole thing, and then ran in the kids race right after we finished the 5k.  We had so much fun!!!
Ruby & Tyson have robes that they use after swimming at the beach.  Tyson usually is shivering so bad after swimming that it takes a few minutes for him to "warm-up".  These robes have come in super handy!
I got nothin'...
Ruby dance in the Spring Showcase for Ballet Hawaii in May.  She was a Blue Bird and LOVED being a part of Ballet.  We're taking a break from Ballet so it was nice for her to finish off with a fun activity like this!

Ruby is the proud and happy ballerina with her flower lei.
